Women did not leave tv for the computer of console to the same extend as men. Although attempts are being made to publish vid games for women, those are media that can be taiolored for each target group individually, while tv panders to the largest avaiable target group, women. However, I do think that more video/computer games will be made and marketed towards females. Men already make up such a huge percentage of the market that the companies producing the games still (and probably always will) cater to men and only occassionally throw us ladies one every so often to keep us somewhat appeased. Fortunately there are a variety of different game genres to choose from. There will always be shooters so I don't think you have anything to worry about. I happen to really like the adventure genre, but those games seem fewer and far between. Sometimes I worry that they will stop making the adventure games. Boys and girls aren't the same in general boys like action, cars, wars, and loud noise so they will make them games they like. If they want to get girls and women playing they need things females like. Wii is coming out with a weight loss game advertised to women. My niece who turned 9 today likes Wii basketball, she is really into sports like soccer and marshal arts but never played with soldiers like her brother.
